Sanremo 2027 Artists: Dates and How Italy Picks Its Eurovision Act
TL;DR: No Sanremo 2027 artist is official yet. RAI can name the 24 from 29 November. The festival runs 16–20 February at the Ariston, with Stefano De Martino as host and artistic director. The change that matters for Eurovision: the festival winner no longer goes to Burgas automatically. Italy picks its act on the Performance Night, Friday 19 February, by televote and an international jury.

Sanremo 2027 artists: confirmed and rumoured
Confirmed so far: none. Entries close on 23 November, and the rules allow the line-up to be announced from 29 November. In recent years it was read out on TG1's 13:30 bulletin, most recently by Carlo Conti on 30 November 2025. For 2027, Open reports that De Martino and RAI are weighing a different route: a prime-time reveal during Sarà Sanremo on Rai 1, on Friday 11 December. That is a report, not a plan.
The Sanremo Giovani place. Six finalists, three from Sanremo Giovani and three from Area Sanremo, compete for one place among the 24. Their final is Sarà Sanremo itself, on Rai 1. Open puts it on Friday 11 December; Sky TG24 reported 18 December back in August. RAI hasn't confirmed the date.
The rumours (unconfirmed). Italian press lists change weekly. The names that come up most:
Adnkronos (picked up by Civonline and others): Annalisa, Emma, Irama, Ghali and Salmo. Its longer list also includes Geolier, Gazzelle, The Kolors, Tananai and Arisa.
Alberto Dandolo in *Oggi* (via Libero): Madame, Salmo and Tony Effe are said to be signed, with De Martino courting Lazza.
De Martino has said repeatedly that he won't pick more than 23. When RAI publishes the line-up, this section becomes the full list of 24 artists and songs.
Performance Night: how Italy picks its Eurovision act
For years, the Sanremo winner had first refusal on Eurovision. From 2027, that's gone:
The fourth night, Friday 19 February, is the Serata Performance. Every artist performs a new version of their song, agreed with the artistic director: new staging, arrangement or interpretation.
The vote is 50% public (televote plus, new this year, a free online vote) and 50% a new International Expert Jury that votes only on this night. De Martino says it will be made up of entertainment professionals working at European level. No names yet.
RAI designates that night's winner for Eurovision 2027, subject to the EBU's admission. Reports on the rules don't say what happens if that artist declines.
The night has its own ranking and doesn't count towards the festival winner, decided on Saturday 20 February.
Other rules matter for Eurovision too. Lyrics must be mainly in Italian (dialect words and short phrases in other languages are allowed), and songs can't run longer than 3 minutes 30 seconds. Eurovision's limit is three minutes, so expect edits. Generative AI may not be used to write lyrics or music.
Why it could help Italy
The old system worked, with the odd stumble. In 2025 the festival winner, Olly, turned Eurovision down, and runner-up Lucio Corsi went to Basel instead and finished 5th. With a dedicated night, everyone on stage on Friday knows what's at stake. An international jury in the room should also reward acts that can hold a stage like Burgas, not only the Ariston crowd.

Six straight years in the top 7. As one of the Big countries, Italy goes straight to the final, so the market question is never "will it qualify?" but "how high?".
Italy's Eurovision 2027 odds: what to expect
No Eurovision 2027 entry has a song yet. The first arrives on 20 December, when Albania's Festivali i Këngës picks its act. The bookmakers we track have no 2027 winner market in our data. Any price on Italy right now would be a price on the country's track record, not on a song.
After the artist reveal, the market starts pricing names. Still speculation.
19 February is the real date. From then on Italy has an artist, a song and a performance an international jury has already judged.
The festival winner on 20 February may be someone else. Anyone treating the Sanremo winner as Italy's Eurovision act needs to account for that.
